Dawgs, Lady Generals finish on top at MVL Track & Field Championships

After seven years of seeing red atop the boys’ MVL track & field podium, the throne is now painted Black and Gold.
The Tri-Valley Dawgs upset Sheridan at the Maysville Athletic Complex, relying on speed to pull off a close victory. The Dawgs’ first-place finishes included the 100, 200, and 400-meter dash events. Senior Jordan Jones took gold in the 100 and 200 while teammate Bryce Goss finished third and second in those events, respectively.
Sheridan scored a pair of victories in the boys’ distance runs, led by Division I recruits Joey Palumbo and Clay Fisher, but the Dawgs still edged the Generals in team scoring by four points, 160-156.
On the ladies’ side, John Glenn sophomore Karlie Zumbro stole the show by winning four events, but the Lady Muskies could not top the Lady Generals. Sheridan’s Mackenzie Davis took home gold in the 1600-meter run and Akron signee Emily Taylor won shot put with a throw of 40’11.5" to help the Lady Generals edge the Lady Muskies, 177-155.
