Day one state wrestling tournament results

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four MVL wrestlers won their DII opening round matches to advance to the quarterfinals.

Two Sheridan teammates picked up opening round victories. In the 145 weight class Noah Barnett got a pin over Sam LoFaso. Fellow General Owen Loughman also won via pin against Cory Stallings in 195.

In the 160 weight class the MVL wrestler of the year Wes Pauley picked up a 9-3 decision against Isaac Allen of Wilmington.

Then New Lexington’s Luke Shivley started his opening round with a 10-0 major decision against Bruno Pattison from Bellfontaine in 220.

They will all move on to the quarterfinals, which start at 10 a.m. Friday morning.
