Dayton man dies in apparent drowning in nature preserve

YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio (AP) — An 18-year-old Dayton man died in an apparent drowning in a closed nature preserve in western Ohio, authorities said.
However, the cause and manner of Jalynn Henderson’s death remain under investigation, according to the Greene County Coroner’s Office.
The Miami Township Fire-Rescue Department and Yellow Springs police responded to the Glen Helen Nature Preserve after a 911 caller reported a potential drowning around 2 p.m. Sunday.
A Yellow Springs officer found Henderson in the water under a log at The Cascades, the site of a scenic waterfall in the preserve that is some 20 miles east of Dayton.
The officer jumped into the water and pulled Henderson to shore, then started resuscitation efforts. Emergency responders soon arrived and continued those efforts, but Henderson was soon pronounced dead at the scene.
