Christmas Basket Deadline Friday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â The deadline is approaching for families to submit applications to The Salvation Army for their annual Christmas giveaways.
Officer manager Mindy McCloy says eligible families can receive toys as well as food baskets, depending on their financial situations.
“Every year there are children in the community that may not get a Christmas,” said McCloy. “Families struggle; they might be out of work, they might have some sickness going on in their family, they might have larger families where its just hard to buy those toys for their children.”
Families with children newborn to age 12 are eligible for toys as well as food baskets. However families with teenagers or no children at all are still able to receive the food baskets.
“The community comes to together to make sure that the children of our community have a Christmas and the food baskets are wonderful, they are going to provide them with a Christmas dinner on Christmas day,” said McCloy.
For those interested, The Salvation Army is accepting applications Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. as well as their last day, Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at their Putnam Avenue location.
