Debra Blackstone

White Rose

Debra (Debbie) Tilton Blackstone, 70 of Zanesville, passed away March 13, 2025, at Genesis Hospital with her loving and devoted husband, David (Dave) Blackstone at her bedside.

She was born on December 14, 1952, in Canton, Ohio, daughter of the late Lloyd Everett Tilton and Donna Rose (McWhorter) Tilton-Alexander. Debbie enjoyed genealogy research, gardening, cardmaking and spending time with her family and friends. She was employed by C.O.R.C. during the summer for over 10 years, where she implemented a program to clean, repair, and reset headstones in numerous local cemeteries to preserve them. During her time with C.O.R.C, she helped supervise 16–21-year-old employees in the classroom as well, teaching them genealogy and its importance. She enjoyed this job very much and loved teaching and working with these young employees. Aside from C.O.R.C., she also worked at the Muskingum County voting polls and was a classroom aid at Adamsville Elementary School for many years.

Debbie was very devoted to her family, and she strongly defended her loved ones and her beliefs. Dave was the love of her life and her rock. They just had their 51st anniversary in February. He was her husband, best friend, and caregiver.

Debbie is also survived by her daughter, Julie Ann Blackstone Wisecarver; grandchildren: Amanda Wisecarver, Michael Wisecarver; great grandchildren: JD Tucker Wisecarver; siblings: Robert (Luann) Tilton, Kathy (Tilton) Sowers, Brenda (Tilton) Hopper, Bernard “Bernie” (Edith) Tilton, Mary (Tilton) Worden, and John Alexander.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Rose (McWhorter) Tilton-Alexander, who she loved and missed dearly; her father, Lloyd Everett Tilton; siblings: Jenny Lou (Tilton) Grant, Teresa Ann (Tilton) Allton Merideth, Thomas Leroy Tilton, Nellie June (Tilton) Griffin-Devoll, Keith Scott Alexander, Lloyd “Red” Tilton, and Sheryl “Sherry” Tilton-Johnson; brother in laws: Peter Johnson, James Devoll Sr.; nephews: Shawn Hopper and Gale Grant.
