Deer Gun Hunting Season
Today marks the first day of gun season for deer hunting. The season in Ohio runs until December 7. Hunters must have their hunting license and deer tags before they can go hunting and both are available for purchase at the Dillon falls store, your local Walmart or any license sales agent. Dillon falls store owner, Kathy McCann says, the first day of gun season is exciting, yet busy. "First day of gun usually is pretty hectic, when I opened up this morning, first thing I had, someone could not find their deer tag. They had their hunting license, but they could not find their deer tag. So, I just went back into the system, reprinted their deer tag, which everyone knows, you loose your license or you loose your tag, it’s a $4 charge for a reprint, but just like last minute ‘I forgot this’ ‘I forgot that’ you know, so it’s busy." Hunter, James Starner, hunts during both bow and gun seasons and says he’s had a successful first game day. "The rain don’t bother me, I killed a nice doe about 10 O’clock this morning, I had about 7 of them come in on me. I bow hunt usually from October until now, then I’ve been lucky the last couple, 3 years I’ve got gun season off, so I’ll hunt the week. If I kill one today and tomorrow then I’m pretty much done for the season." The Ohio department of natural resources reminds hunters to wear hunter orange for safety when deer hunting this season.
