Demolition for Renovation

SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Demolition of the public pool building took place today at the South Zanesville Village Park as renovations are underway toward creating a place that is more appealing to modern outdoor recreationalists.
South Zanesville Village Councilman Paul Lowe and South Zanesville Fire Department Chief Russell Taylor shared how the costly public swimming pool was removed years ago and how the concrete pool building materials are being recycled to keep the renovation project as cost efficient as possible.
“We are tearing down, thanks to the donation by Sidwell companies and by Shelly and Sands have donated both the backhoe the personnel and the hauling away the trash,” Lowe said. “We’re recycling this building. We’re expanding our parking area. The only thing that’s going to the landfill is the trash. And we’re going to try to put more big toy apparatuses, I mean slides and other big toys that are suitable for 2-to-teenagers, try to broaden it out.”
Residents were surveyed to learn how the park could better serve the community and with today’s accomplishments, the village is now in compliance with many grant requirements that would fund further renovations to the facility.
“So we’re looking for donations and we’re going to make grant requests to local organizations to try to get monies available to build and get apparatuses for the children and for our families here in the Village of South Zanesville. And we’re looking for anyone to donate, to buy more wonderful playground apparatuses for children to be active in the outdoors and enjoy nature in the Village of South Zanesville Park,” Lowe said.
Many villages throughout the area are fiscally challenged due to smaller tax bases and limited resources, which makes the need for grants and donations essential for accomplishing projects like this.
