DeWine Holds Roundtable Discussion with Coshocton County Law Enforcement

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine made a visit to Coshocton County Wednesday afternoon.

DeWine held a round table discussion with area law enforcement to discuss a variety of things. Some of those topics were the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Drug Issues, specifically heroine. Coshocton County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason Given explained the current crime situation in the area.

"Our criminal indictments, our felony indictments range between 150 to 200 a year which is fairly typical for a county our size….Whether you have one felony or a thousand felonies it’s one too many and we have to do everything we can to try to combat that."

There are over 40,000 people who live within the Coshocton County lines. Given says these statistics are typical for a county their size but the relationship with the Attorney Generals Office is incredibly helpful in dealing with these issues.

"Extraordinarily helpful…..They come in. They come in at no cost to the county. It doesn’t cost us a penny for them to come in here and they give you a level of expertise in these certain specific areas that is above and beyond anything else you could ever get anywhere else."

These local meetings are held every so often to discuss the county’s specific needs.
