Dog Pound Volunteers meet with County Commissioners
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Government Officials and local volunteers clashed in a meeting lasting more than 3 hours long on Thursday.
Muskingum County Commissioners, the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Deputies along with the Dog Pound Volunteers were present to discuss current conditions at the Dog Pound. While there were many different opinions on current procedures, there was common ground on the state of the facility. Muskingum County Dog Warden, Bryan Catlin, explained they are in need of a new building.
“The facility we are working out of now is in two sections. The old sections is probably going on 60 maybe 60 plus years old. The addition was probably built back in 1995. So that’s going on twenty some years old. So there is a need for it, it is outdated from how the newer facilities are.”
Volunteers have already raised 50,000 dollars in 18 months but much more is needed for the estimated 750,000 dollar facility.
“The funds that they have raised can probably start maybe possibly working up ideas and plans if not build the entire facility from start to end. Maybe do a partial facility, at least it will get us going in the right direction.” said Catlin
Volunteers are now turning to the public and local businesses for support in raising funds for a new dog pound.
