Donald Jones

Donald E. Jones went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 5, 2025 at his home. He was born February 19, 1939, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Glenn E. and Edith M. (Lindamood) Jones. He was the grandson of the late Lonny Ray and Florance (Tom) Lindamood.
Don served in the Navy in 1959 to 1963. He was a boiler man on the USS Noah when they picked up John Glenn’s capsule the Friendship 7 on February 20, 1962. He spent 40 years as a truck driver and retired from Wendy’s International. He served the Lord at Maranatha Bible Church for many years until his health made it impossible. He loved spending time tinkering in his garage and spending time with family and friends. He was a tease and always ready with a quick comment. He and Linda accepted the Lord as their personal Savior a few months before they were married on September 6, 1963. The Lord blessed them with four children and three grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Linda L. (Braden) Jones; two children, Donald (Maria) Jones and Samantha (Mark) Stotts; three grandchildren, Belinda Jones, Seth Stotts, and Markette Stotts; two sisters, Annette (Paul) Van Horn and Debbie (Bob) Sasser; two sisters-in-laws, Anna Mae Jones and Carla Jones; in-laws, Joan Dinan, Connie (Barry) Smith, Lealand McBride, Don (Laura) McBride, Mark Whiteside; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Lea and a son, John William; his brothers, Kenneth and Ronald; his uncles and aunts, Dale Jones, Jessie Davis, Bob and Winnie Morton; his nephew, Larry Morton; in-laws, Jim and Rose McBride, Mabell (Rance) Best, Jim McBride and Bonnie Whiteside.
Friends and family may call from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. Don will be laid to rest at Chandlersville Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded to him by the United States Navy in conjunction will the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
