SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local church has a goal of sending over 200 flood buckets to the areas effected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, but they need the communities donations.

Rolling Plains United Methodist Church is collecting flood cleanup buckets throughout the month of September. Lead Pastor John Alice said as people see the damage caused they feel a need to travel down and help, but the victims don’t need more people. They need cleaning supplies.

“When those buckets are delivered to the people in [Huston, Texas] or people in [Miami, Florida] or wherever [Hurricane Irma] goes,” Alice said. “That bucket will be a godsend to them, because it will be their first opportunity to be able to clean things up. To prevent mold from happening in their homes, so that things aren’t permanently damaged and destroyed.”

Rolling Planes will send their donations raised to United Methodist Committee on Relief. From there U.M.C.O.R. will deliver the supplies along with their deported volunteers.

“What we can guarantee is because we’re not on our own doing our own thing, we are connected with U.M.C.O.R. United Methodist Committee on Relief,” said Alice. “When you work with U.M.C.O.R. 100% of the proceeds both financially and also giving a physical gift like a flood bucket or clean out bucket. They go directly towards those victims.”

United Methodist Committee on Relief is an Ohio Better Business Bureau accredited Charity. Donations may be taken to Rolling Plains U.M.C. located off of Moxahala Park Road. For information on what to purchase check out Rolling Plains U.M.C. website.
