Donna Cowgill

Donna J. (Handshy) Cowgill, 81, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 29, 1945, to the late Marion and Ruth Handshy who both preceded her in death.

Donna was a graduate of Zanesville High School. She devoted her life to being a loving wife and homemaker, taking great pride in caring for her family and home. She was a past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed baking, collecting, and spending time with those she loved. She was a member of the Zanesville American legion. Donna especially enjoyed vacationing out West and cherished the memories made during her travels.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Herbert “Joe” C. Cowgill; children, Jodie (Brian) Hughes, Joseph (Stephanie) Cowgill and Angela (Linda) Lucas; grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon Cowgill, Cheyenne Winchester and Julie Mae McCloskey; great grandson, Kolyer; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Barb Handshy; and several nieces and nephews; as well as several other family members and dear friends who will greatly miss her.

Donna will be remembered for her loving heart, dedication to her family, and the many memories she created throughout her life.

Per Donna’s wishes cremation has been chosen. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family
