She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 25 years, Thomas A. Pierce; her children, Keith M. (Lisa Kercher) McHenry, Angela R. (Jeremy) Colborn, Matthew R. (Colleen) Summerville, and Marcus S. J. ( Elizabeth Hock) Summerville; stepchildren Diane D. Pierce, Joshua A. (Amanda) McHenry, Amanda S. Summerville, and James E. Donna was a gentle and humble person. She could often be found in the kitchen sitting at the table with a newspaper and a cup of coffee (or a Coke) or visiting with family and friends. She was a beloved mother and grandmother not only to her own children, but to many of their friends as well. She became known as “Mama Donna” to many and always had a seat at her table ready for anyone who needed a listening ear, words of wisdom, or a cup of coffee.
Donna enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading books, roasting marshmallows over the stove burner, spending time with her family, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and listening to and participating in online church services. She was a lifelong member of Cornerstone Church in Duncan Falls, Ohio, and also attended House of Grace Church in South Zanesville, Ohio. Donna had a generous heart and loved supporting charities that helped children and spread the word of God. Donna was also a former employee of the Muskingum County Center for Seniors between 2004 and 2014.
Calling hours for Donna will be held at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, 56 South 5th Street, Zanesville, Ohio, from 4-6pm Thursday, March 19th, with the funeral service immediately following at 6pm with Pastor Steve Harrop of Cornerstone Church officiating. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a meal and fellowship at Cornerstone Church.
Donna loved flowers in life and would appreciate them. However, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation in her memory to one of her beloved charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Eastside Community Ministries, the House of Grace Baby Pantry, True Light Ministries, or any charity that supports enriching children’s lives or spreading the word of God.
Donna’s kindness, faith, and open table will be remembered by all who knew her.
