Doug graduated from St. Rose School and then New Lexington High School. He hung around New Lex for a while after high school drinkin Beer and raisin hell for a few years (like we all did). After that he packed up a 1968 or 9 baby blue Ford Galaxy, aimed it South, landed in Florida and never looked Back. He got a job at a Publix Grocery Store and worked as a meat cutter and then ended up managing the meat department. Worked there for somewhere around forty years and then retired happy. Doug loved to take his rides. He’d call all of us and tell us about the rides. He’d stop at a hotel within walking distance of a bar with a pool table so he could play pool. Doug was a sharp shooter. A really good pool player. He loved his family whole heartedly and kept in touch with all of us ALL the time. Every day to Doug was a beautiful day. He was a simple man that loved life and family and wouldn’t hurt a flea. Doug you are going to be missed by all of us. We are already telling stories and laughing and crying. We’re gonna bring you back to Perry County and lay you down up in Maplewood. We love you buddy. Say hello to the Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God for us as He shines his light on you and blesses you.
A Private Celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends.
