Drag Me Home for Christmas offers a fun evening at the Renner Theatre

Drag Me Home For Christmas

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Renner Theatre is holding a holiday-themed drag show event called Drag Me Home for Christmas.

Nine performers are set to take the stage this Saturday at 8 p.m., with local performers and some from as far as New York. Blake Nesselroad and his friend Matt Swingle are performers and hosts of the event and are excited to put the show together to help combat holiday stress.

“The holidays can be stressful and especially for the LGBT community and so this is an event to just kind of bring everyone together. Allowing the LGBT community to realize that there is a community here for them especially around the holidays and it just brings family and friends together,” Nesselroad said.

Nesselroad, who will take the stage as Lysistrata Jones, was thankful to have a venue like the Renner Theatre that’s supportive of community shows like Drage Me Home for Christmas.

“It’s incredibly encouraging. The theatre has always been open to the LGBT community throughout my entire life here. I’ve always felt like there’s a safe space for me and for other people like me and many other theatre spaces like this in Zanesville,” Nesselroad said.

The show is for those 18 and older, with tickets on sale for $15 per person. Tickets can be found at TheRenner.org, and doors open at 7:30 p.m.
