Dresden Days Not Over Yet
If you weren’t able to make it into downtown Dresden this weekend for the Dresden Days, don’t fret.
The streets will be full of vendors again on Tuesday, so you can still get in on the fun.
Dresden Welcome Center Treasurer, Tammy Delancey, says it’s an event for women and men.
“Lot of tents, food, crafts, baskets, and any hard to find baskets is great to come here because you can find just about anything. The prices are great. A lot of people are dealing. So, there’s a lot to do, ” says Delancey.
Dresden days coincides with Longerberger’s Basket Bee Convention. Consultants gather in Columbus for three days and then on the fourth day, they tour the Longerberger Homestead and have a chance to visit Dresden.
Jeanne Bishop has been a Longerberger consultant for 17 years and is the owner of the Basket Lady on Main in Dresden.
She says a crowd of more than two thousand people has invaded the town over the past two days.
“Sometimes you look at it, and you think it’s hard to believe that the economy is bad because those girls are buying those baskets like there’s no tomorrow,” says Bishop.
The vendors aren’t the only ones open for business. Delancey says the downtown stores take part in Dresden Days too. She says it’s a way to boost the local economy.
“If you’re looking for a unique birthday gift or a wedding present, these stores have a lot to offer, and they’re all “Mom and Pop” stores. So, we like to keep that in our town and keep it going strong, ” says Delancy.
At the end of the day, Delancey says visitors, vendors, and store owners can all enjoy a block party, filled with food, music, and beer.
