Dresden Holiday Parade and Caroling

The cold and wind chills didn’t deter people from attending Dresden’s annual holiday parade Saturday.

Many lined up and down Main Street to watch the holiday festivities pass by. We spoke to Dean and Pam Brauning who have been attending the parade for 20 years. They shared with us what keeps them coming back.

"We just like to watch the different floats. You know, the community gets together. Like the banks and everything. They always have different floats that they do every year and we just like to watch and see how they decorate."

The Brauning’s favorite part of the parade is watching the children get excited about seeing Santa, who made an appearance at the end. Following the parade, parade goers could gather down to road to enjoy free cookies, hot chocolate and Christmas carols. Steve Wilson, President of the New Dresden Community Association had the following to say about the event.

"Of course it’s traditional to have Christmas caroling all through the United States and we wanted to do that. It’s sort of an old fashioned Christmas event and we want to take part in that here in Dresden."

This was the first year the community in Dresden held the caroling for the community.
