Dresden parade rescheduled

DRESDEN, Ohio- With the Tri-Valley High School Football team playing in the State Finals this weekend, the village is rescheduling their annual Christmas parade.
The parade was originally scheduled for Saturday, but that’s the same day the Scotties will be playing in Canton. Dresden Mayor David Mathew says the parade will now take place on Sunday so fans can enjoy both the game and the parade.
“We’ve got two great things happening in Dresden this weekend and we didn’t want to have them on the same night. So that was part of the process. We wanted the school, the band, and the football team to be involved Sunday with the Christmas parade. And we talked to Santa and he’d like to see them too.”
This is the first time in school history that the team will play in the finals and the community is rallying around them. Mayor Mathew says the village will celebrate the team no matter the outcome and that they can participate in the parade if they want.
“They are more than welcome to because we’re going to celebrate no matter what they do. It’s been…what a great accomplishment. It’s unbelievable what they’ve done. And to be the underdog and handled everybody like they have, they’ve really showed some spirit and some gumption.”
The theme for the parade is year is “1817 Christmas Past” which ties into the Bicentennial Celebration the City will host on New Year’s Eve.
