Dutro Cleaning Canal and River

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Downtown Zanesville is getting assistance with their Revitalization.

Dutro Ford-Lincoln-Nissan located on South Fifth Street has been under construction for the last couple years and according to Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce President Dana Matz that expansion project helps bring people back to the downtown area.

“It’s been a major source of attraction to our downtown,” Matz said. “These times most of those dealerships are being forced to move north and they were able to negotiate staying in our downtown. So a major investment that’s making major improvements.”

Matz said Dutro is not just ending with their own property. Dutro Ford-Lincoln-Nissan is also working on the areas beautification.

“Some people are starting to notice some of the improvements being done on the canal banks,” Matz said. “So the trees are being trimmed, brush is being cut down, there is some fill going on and they’ve worked with Ohio Department of Natural Resources to get permission to do that. So we’re very excited.”

Matz is certain that with The Rotary Club of Zanesville working on the canal and river near the Y-bridge and now Dutro paying for the clean up for the canal and river by the sixth street bridge Zanesville will hopefully see more activity downtown.
