Eastside Community Ministries Holding Fundraisers

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The COVID-19 pandemic has stripped many local nonprofits of their ability to hold fundraisers this year.
Local food and clothing bank Eastside Community Ministries is making due by holding modified versions of its yearly events. Executive Director Jamie Trout has more information on the changed fundraisers.
“This year the 24th annual Souper Bowl is gonna be a lot different because of COVID. So we are gonna be down at the Secrest Auditorium on Sunday, October 18th from 10 am to 2 pm. We are just asking that people drop off donations of canned food, canned vegetables, canned soup, and we’re gonna donate those to the five recipient organizations… The five recipient organizations are Eastside Community ministries, Salvation army, Christ Table, Fellowship of Christ and the Senior Center.”
The “Souper Bowl” event will also sell no-show tickets with proceeds going to the recipient organizations. The annual “Race for Grace” fundraiser is also being changed this year.
“The Race for Grace is something that has been held on Thanksgiving Day for many years, sponsored by Grace United Methodist Church. This year we are taking the race virtual so you’re able to participate at your own leisure, November 16th through the 28th. Registration will still be online, you can find that on the Race for Grace website, the Facebook page, and also Eastside Community Ministries Facebook page.”
All proceeds from the race go to Eastside Community Ministry.
