Chair-ity Auction Raises $12,000

Eastside Community Ministries said their 2018 “Chair”ity auction was certainly a success.
It took place at the Colony Square Mall during this year’s Hearth, Home and Away Show.
“This is our third annual “Chair”ity auction. We had one hundred and three entries this year which is more than we had last year,” said Eastside Executive Director Jamie Trout. “It is continuing to be successful and people are interested. What we noticed this year is people really enhanced their donations this year. They put a lot of thought into them, a lot of incentives, so we heard a lot of comments from people how they saw that we’ve grown since last year. ”
Trout said this year was unlike any other from the diversity of the chairs to raising more funds than last year.
“Basically we take any kind of chair or seat and you can decorate it anyway you want, and then you just add incentives,” explained Trout. “We had people do vintage items and updated items. We got a lot of children’s donations so we had a wide variety of things. This year were right around $12,000, so were really excited. We did really great. We have an amazing community. This year we had new auctioneers, John Christ and Johnny Knowland and they were a lot of fun. They got people really involved.”
Eastside Community Ministries plans to attend next year’s show and will continue to make an impact throughout the community.
