Eastside Community Ministry Gears up for Tools for School
ZANESVILLE, OH- Volunteers were busy filling backpacks with much needed school supplies for students Tuesday.
Eastside Community Ministry is gearing for their annual Tools for School event this Thursday.
Betty Caw, a Member of the Tools for Schools Committee, said this year they will be giving out over 900 backpacks to students in every grade level. She said they have seen the amazing impact this program has had on students over the years.
“We would love for every kid to have a great school year and to get off with a great start,” Caw said. “It’s nice to have that backpack full of everything that the teacher is requiring, and it also helps teachers with having students in the room with the supplies they need to have a successful school year.”
Tuesday, marked the first day of getting students ready for the new school year and volunteers will be back at it again Wednesday. Caw said this is a special event and it’s all because of the community stepping up when they need it the most.
“We’ve had lots of businesses, banks, Rotary, everybody that comes in and volunteers,” Caw said. “It’s a great community effort because everyone in the community wants to see kids have a successful school year.”
