NEW LEXINGOTN, OH – The Ebenezer Baptist Church is selling fair food at the 72nd Annual Perry County Fair this week to raise money for LifeWise Academy.

The annual fair includes fair food classics, games, rides, motorsports, livestock contests and fundraisers such as the Ebenezer Baptist Church food stand. The fundraiser menu features breakfast items such as eggs, sausage and pancakes as well as lunch and dinner specials including Sloppy Joes and Coney Dogs. The profits from the food stand will go toward LifeWise, a Christian ministry offering religious education to public school students.

“Lifewise is providing character, bible education for students in public schools,” Ebenezer Baptist Church Senior Pastor Steve Hubbard said. “It’s called released time religious instruction. It came about as a result of a 1953 supreme court ruling that said students can be released from public school during the school hours for religious instruction provided that it’s off campus, it’s privately funded and with parental permission. So, we’re excited about it.”

Hubbard, a self-proclaimed people person enjoys how the annual fair brings together the whole Perry County community. Hubbard hopes to give back to the community by keeping food prices down, so every family can enjoy the fair.

“It’s also a great way for us to give back to the community, because when you look at our menu and our prices, not that we’re in competition with anybody, but we keep our prices specifically low for the benefit of families,” Hubbard said. “It’s tough to bring a whole carload of kids to the fair and pay for their passes and rides so we try to do things to help the family.”

The EBC food stand will be open for business the week from July 14 to July 19 during the Perry County Fair. For more information about the fair, visit perrycountyfairgrounds.com.
