Education Meeting
School officials are moving Ohio from the "status quo".
Superintendents from neighboring school districts came to Zanesville Friday afternoon to discuss the importance of the Evidence Based Model that school officials say would deliver on an objective method to determine the actual cost of a quality education.
"The evidenced based model uses evidence, data and research for the first time in the history of Ohio and it goes all the way back to the 1991 Cupp Report," said Superintendent Richard Murry, Ed.D of the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center.
The Evidence Based Model would shift the share of funding education to the state and reduce the need for local property taxes and levies.
"We need to link how we use our resources to the quality of programs we deliver so that we can make frugal decisions for taxpayers down the road," said Murray.
Murray says elected leaders need to make education a priority so they can continue to see positive results in the classrooms.
