HEATH, Ohio – The 8-seeded Philo Electrics proved they belong in the Division IV playoffs by rolling over top-seeded and #3 Heath Friday night at Swank Field, 42-7.

Philo rushed for 332 rushing yards to earn its second playoff win in school history. The Electrics will meet 4-seeded Shelby at a neutral location in the Region 15 semifinals next Friday.

The Electrics led 7-0 at the half behind a second quarter touchdown from running back Dylan Tweedy. It wasn’t until the third quarter when Philo pulled away from the previously unbeaten Bulldogs, outscoring the home team 21-0. Receiver Isaac Gill, quarterback Nathan Baker and running back Dakota Perry found pay dirt for the visitors.

Philo continued scoring barrage in the fourth quarter with scores from Tweedy and Ayden Carpenter. The Blue and Gold never turned the ball over on offense, and the Electrics’ defense was equally impressive, intercepting Heath four times.

The winner of the Electrics’ showdown with the Whippets will play the winner of Steubenville and Johnstown-Monroe for the regional championship. The Big Red handled Indian Creek, 34-14, while the Johnnies routed Cambridge, 44-17.

Shelby also finished off its playoff win with a running clock by beating Bloom-Carroll, 56-13.
