Elizabeth “Bettie” Raymond
Elizabeth “Bettie” J. Raymond, 93, of Pickerington, formerly of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at StoryPoint of Pickerington. Born on Monday, November 21, 1932, in Zanesville, Bettie was the daughter of William G. Watson and Rose Albert Watson. On Saturday, May 28, 1955, she married the love of her life, Robert E. Raymond, who preceded her in death on February 11, 2012.
Bettie was a well-known and respected Realtor for many years, helping countless families find homes while working for Willie Baker Real Estate and Lepi & Associates Realty. She was an avid tennis player who embraced an active lifestyle throughout her life.
Deeply committed to her community, Bettie generously gave of her time and talents to numerous civic and charitable organizations. She was a member of Beaux Arts, served on the board of the Zanesville Art Institute, participated in the Zaney Follies, was active with the Good Samaritan Charity Circle, belonged to the All Around Club, and served on the board of the Zanesville Day Nursery. Bettie and her husband were also members of the Zanesville Assembly Club.
Above all else, Bettie was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She treasured every moment spent with her family and created a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity that will continue to live on through those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (John) Markell of Pickerington; her son, Steve (Mary) Raymond of Richmond, Virginia; her daughter-in-law, Marcy Raymond of Columbus; her beloved grandchildren, Jake Raymond, Nick Raymond, Ryan Markell, Taylor Markell, Gabby Raymond, Amanda Raymond, Sam Raymond, Carson (Colman) Raymond, and Greg (Dawn) Bossick; three great-grandchildren, Chaplin Raymond, McCall Raymond, and Annie Bossick; her sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Bettie was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Watson Raymond, and her son, Chad Raymond.
Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Hillis Combs Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street, Zanesville, with Fr. David Young serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park, where Bettie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and daughter.
