Ellen Y. Hammond, 68, of Zanesville, died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. She was born October 29, 1946, in Coshocton, a daughter of the late Earl and Betty Smith Welling. She had been a daycare teacher at Genesis Daycare Center, was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, was an avid bowler and had been inducted into the Zanesville Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. Ellen also enjoyed camping and playing Bingo.

Surviving are her husband, Edgar A. Hammond, of the home; two sons, Chad (Teresa) Hammond of Cambridge and Mark (Stephanie Glosser) Hammond of Zanesville; a daughter, Diana (Brent) Lavy of Zanesville; thirteen grandchildren, Trey, Destiny, Marcus, Harley, Ashlin, Walter (Holly), Clay, Brittany, Skyelynn, Kalynn (Kevin), Sarah (Kyle), Hunter and Alicia (Jim) ; six great grandchildren, Trinity, Kolton, Zane, Gunner, Zaylee and one on the way; a sister, Marsha (Bob) Holderbaum of Coshocton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-son, Eddie A. Hammond.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 with Pastor Bob Besser officiating. She will be laid to rest at Williams Cemetery, Zanesville.
