Elsie Wilson

Elsie Mae “Maisie” Wilson, 97 of Roseville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024. She was born April 15, 1927 in Martins Ferry, OH, daughter of the late James M. and Elsie E. Gossett McConnell.
Maisie worked at Barkers IGA and Nelson McCoy Pottery in Roseville. She enjoyed spending time with the family she so dearly loved, playing euchre, celebrating birthdays, and attending reunions. Maisie also liked reading and watching football. Her favorite teams were the Browns, Steelers and THE Ohio State Buckeyes. She was a member of the Cannelville United Methodist Church.
Before returning to the Zanesville area in 1969, she had previously lived in East Liverpool, OH, Pittsburgh, Franklin and Erie, PA, Milwaukee, WI and Indianapolis, IN.
Though diminutive in size, her heart was much bigger than her stature. She touched the lives of many, including her best friend, Sylvia Michaels and Felix Compadre, who came to live with Maisie and George as a foreign exchange student.
She was preceded in passing by her husband George F. Wilson in 1974; three brothers, Denny, Guy and James McConnell and three sisters, Connie Polanski, Alice Napora and Linda LaRue.
Surviving are her two sons, George Wilson of Indianapolis, IN and David (Melissa) Wilson of Sewickley, PA; two sisters, Martha Cocherl and Jeanne Beckholt; six grandchildren: Kelly (Gerard) McCarry, Elizabeth (Joe) Gruss, Christopher (Jenna) Wilson, Danielle (David) Weber, Corinne (Wade) Henshaw and Leanne Wilson, plus six great grandchildren, Nicholas McCarry, Alison Thomas, Mallory Thomas, Elliott Wilson, Aralyn Wilson and Marley Henshaw as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
