EMTs assaulted

Usually EMTs care for the sick, transport them to the hospital, but Thursday afternoon it was quite a different story. Two emergency responders were the ones being transported.

Harrison Township EMT Rick Bennett and his partner were responding to an ill female on Old River Road when Bennett says the woman became combative and kicked him on the chest, causing bruising. Once inside the ambulance, the woman allegedly kicked Bennett’s partner. Both Bennett and his partner had to be transported to the hospital, where they were treated and released.

Authorities say the woman might have been ill from a drug overdose. It is unclear if she faces charges.
