Encore Plastics Receives Grant, Keeps Jobs in Ohio
Columbia Gas presented Encore Plastics with $75, 000.
In Cambridge Ohio, Encore Plastics houses their largest of the three locations within the company, providing almost 200 jobs to the community. They create plastic containers and paint trays for businesses and various vendors and when the company found their sprinkler system wasn’t equipped to safely handle a potential fire Encore Plastics had to replace the entire system.
"Our insurance rates doubled and they were potentially doubled again and it made it very hard for us to do business in Cambridge without putting in a new sprinkler system," said CFO Larry Mullins.
It cost the company almost $650,000 to complete the project. With help from the state of Ohio and the Columbia Gas Jobs Growth grant, they were able to make the workplace safe without cutting jobs in the area. President of Columbia Gas in Ohio Dan Creekmur said Columbia Gas is proud to help companies in Ohio who work to maintain and create jobs in the state.
"Columbia gas is proud to be in Cambridge to support one of our long-term customers and a great employer here in the area, Encore Plastics," said Creekmur. "We’re thankful that they’re growing their business here and providing great local jobs."
The check was presented outside of the plastics factory earlier Wednesday afternoon.
