Escaped Inmate Appears in Court

A inmate who escaped while on work detail appeared in Zanesville Municipal Court Tuesday.

22-year-old Eric Harris pled guilty to one count of escape. Judge William Joseph sentenced him to 30 days in jail, plus a $200 fine and court costs.

Harris escaped December 1, 2009 while out of the Zanesville City Jail picking up litter on work detail. He was originally in the jail on charges of domestic violence, petty theft and counterfeiting drugs.

Captain Kenneth Miller says Harris turned himself into police on Monday.
