EXCLUSIVE: Thompson’s Neighbors React

The events that have unfolded over the past 24 hours have sparked reactions from people all over the country including those who live just down the road from Terry Thompson’s farm.

WHIZ caught up with residents of Eagle View Apartments on Kopchak Road to find out how they feel about this situation.  Connie Sines manages the property, and she said many of her residents spent the day inside.

"The only thing I worry about is something coming up over the bank at the creek there, but I’ve only been out once," said Sines.

Corrie Johnson lives here with his girlfriend and three children.  He said the deputies are doing a great job, especially since the sheriff urged school officials to keep kids home today.

"I’d rather them shoot first and ask questions later, rather than waiting for someone to use darts, because our kids are in danger, and we are too," said Johnson.  "I love animals like everyone else does, but I’d rather it be them than us."

Brandee Herda said she saw the commotion and found out what happened through Facebook.  She said she had no idea that her neighbor kept so many animals, and she disagrees with the current laws in place.

"It’s very scary," said Herda.  "Hopefully, some changes can be made and better regulation of how many animals can be kept."

Sines said she told her residents to report any animal sightings to authorities.
