Learning More About Issue 2

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- There’s an issue on the ballot that’s leaving many Ohioans confused, today an expert on proposal two breaks it down for voters.
The Drug Price Standards Initiative or Ohio Issue 2 will be on the ballot November 7th. A consultant for the Yes on 2 campaign explains exactly what the Issue means.
“It’s the Drug Price Relief Act. This is not a constitution amendment. It’s an initiated statute and an opportunity for people to decide whether or not a piece of legislation should be enacted. In this case, the Drug Price Relief Act which would mandate the state of Ohio as a major purchaser of prescription drugs 3 billion dollars a year purchaser of prescription drugs would not pay more than what the lowest known price for public contracts for prescription drugs.”
He says those who are still pondering whether or not to vote yes they should ask themselves how they feel about the way things are now.
“You know, if you’re happy with the way things are then this change probably isn’t for you. But if you want to stand up to the drug companies, you want your opportunity to stand up to one of the biggest bullies that’s out there that forces people to make choices that they shouldn’t have to make about their groceries or their healthcare, their children or their healthcare, other parts of their lives or their healthcare then this is your opportunity.”
Borges says Ohio is a major purchaser of drugs and that passing Issue 2 will save the state $400,000 a year.
The group No on Issue 2 says passage of the issue will lead to higher drug costs, reduced access to medicines and have a negative impact on veterans.
