Extension for Great Guernsey Trail Breaks Ground

Great Guernsey Trail

Cambridge, OH- Local and state officials broke ground on an extension for the Great Guernsey Trail and Turner Avenue Trailhead Project.

The project will extend the trail 3 miles from Corduroy Road into downtown Cambridge, ending at a new parking lot and trailhead at the corner of Turner Avenue and Southgate Parkway.

Shelly and Sands will begin work this year and complete it in the summer of 2026.

The project is being funded through the Appalachian Community Grant Program, which is investing $500m into Ohio’s Appalachian counties to fund transformational projects. The City of Cambridge, Guernsey County Community Development Corporation and Guernsey County Port Authority provided local financial support for the project.

The project was included in a regional grant application submitted by the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association.
