Fallen First Responder Walk Honors Fallen Heroes on 9/11
ZANESVILLE, OH – On this solemn day of remembrance, the community came together to honor the heroes we’ve lost. The annual Fallen First Responder Walk was held on September 11th, honoring the courage and sacrifice of those in public safety.
The walk began at 8:45 AM at the Newton Township Fire Department and stretched approximately 3 miles to the Walmart Complex on Maysville Pike. Active and retired police, firefighters, EMS, corrections, dispatch and other public safety personnel walked together in a show of solidarity and remembrance.
“It is a commitment that every first responder has to carry forward the memory, the tradition, and the dedication of those that have gone before us,” Newton Township Fire Department Captain Chas Cosgrave said.
This annual walk is a touching reminder of the daily courage displayed by first responders and shows that first responders are always here for the community.
“I hope the community takes away that we’re here. We’re here and we’re out, we’re among the community. We want to be seen, and we want them to know that we’re here for them,” Cosgrave said.
Cosgrave also shared that he feels blessed to have this walk each year and expressed his thanks to everyone for their support.
