Fallen Officer Memorial Ceremony

A memorial service was held Saturday morning to pay tribute to several fallen police officers.

The Fraternal Order of Police Zane Lodge 5, which represents Coshocton, Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties. President, Steve Jones said they have lost a total of 6 officers since 1905.

"We’re here today with the friends and family and police officers who served with these individuals just to pay homage to them and so that we don’t forget," said Jones.

Among those in attendance were the families of Lt. Mike Lutz and Deputy Robert Tanner, both killed in the line of duty. Jones said what the families wants is for their loved ones to always be remembered.

"They really don’t want a whole lot they just want remembrance. With our monument that we have outside with their names engraved, we do this every year for them. Hopefully, we will never have to add another name," said Jones.

The ceremony concluded with a gun shot salute.
