Fatal accident in Hopewell Township

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash early Friday morning in Hopewell Township.

The accident happened shortly before 6:45 a.m. 34-year-old, Michael Samson of McConnelsville, and 30-year-old, Kendall Samson of Crooksville, were traveling west on S.R. 204 when their vehicle struck a dog in the road. They lost control, traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

Kendall Samson was pronounced dead on the scene. Michael Samson was transported to Grant Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Both were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
