Fatal Accident in Muskingum County
Zanesville – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Muskingum County .
The accident occurred on State Route 93 near milepost 3 in Newton Township Sunday, November 17, at approximately 2:37 P.M .
Authorities said a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze operated by Katina Dawson, age 38, of New Concord, was traveling northbound on State Route 93 when she traveled left of the centerline, striking a 1985 Chevrolet Corvette that was traveling southbound on State Route 93.
The driver of the Chevrolet Corvette, John Butler, age 76, of Crooksville, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Dawson was not injured.
Assisting agencies on scene were the Newton Township EMS &FD and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said drug impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
