Fatal construction accident in Licking County
BOWLING GREEN TWP, Ohio–Authorities said a man was killed in a trench collapse at a construction site in Licking County.
It happened just before 10:00 a.m. Monday in the 9900 block of Honda Hills Road in Bowling Green Township.
Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp said a caller reported that a man had been trapped in a ditch that had collapsed and that other workers were attempting a rescue with a backhoe and shovels.
Rescue personnel were able to partially uncover the victim, 39-year-old Drew Oswald of Baltic, and found that he was deceased.
The crew had been working on drainage for a new build when the incident occurred.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation,
