Fatal Crash in Licking County
A Licking County crash kills one person and severely injures multiple others.
According to the Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol, around 11 a.m. 75-year-old Joyce Jones of Lancaster was traveling northbound on State Route 661 when she failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. Route 62.
Jones vehicle was struck by a semi-truck driven by 64-year-old Burckhardt Wallbraun of Whitehall.
Jones was taken by helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries, as was a passenger in her vehicle 76-year-old Beverly Ciminello of Newark. Her front seat passenger 74-year-old Patricia Reid of Granville was killed.
Wallbraun was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital where his condition is unknown. His semi overturned in the crash, spilling its load. U.S. 62 was closed for four hours while crews cleared the scene.
Seat belts were used by all parties involved.
