Fatal Crash in Muskingum County

Zanesville, OH- The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Blue Rock woman.
According to the State Patrol, on Monday, July 13, at approximately 2:25 P.M., Troopers were dispatched to a crash on State Route 60 near milepost 10 in Wayne Township.
A 2020 Buick Encore driven by Linda Work, 72, of Blue Rock, was traveling north on SR 60 in the right lane. A 2010 Honda Odyssey driven by Ruth McCollister, 50, also of Blue Rock, was traveling south in the right lane. The Honda crossed the centerline and struck the Buick head-on.
After the impact, the Buick traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Work was pronounced deceased at the scene. McCollister and a juvenile passenger sustained minor injuries and were not transported by EMS.
Authorities said indicators of impairment were observed at the scene and McCollister was arrested for OVI. Additional charges will be pending review by the Muskingum County Prosecutor. McCollister was transported to and incarcerated at the Muskingum County Jail.
Agencies assisting at the scene included South Zanesville, Harrison Township, and Community EMS; the Duncan Falls and Wayne Township Fire Departments; the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office; the Muskingum County Coroner; the Ohio Department of Transportation; and the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
