Fatal Crash involving ATV in Muskingum County

ZANESVILLE, Ohio–The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash in Muskingum County that involved an ATV.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. Monday on North Dresden Road near Gene Cox Road.

Authorities said a car driven by a 17-year-old from Dresden was northbound on North Dresden Road.  An ATV driven by 75- year-old Danney Paynter of Trinway was eastbound on Bottom Road when he failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by the teen’s car.

Paynter was taken to Genesis Hospital and then transported to a Columbus Hospital where he passed away from his injuries on Tuesday.

The 17 year old was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
