Fatal Fire Under Investigation
A fire early Sunday morning has claimed the life of a 46-year-old Zanesville woman.
The fire took place around 12:23 July 4, at 1525 1/2 Maysville Avenue. The apartment is connected to a building with a business in the front.
Fire Chief Jeff Bell said the fire originated in the kitchen of the apartment and was put out within minutes. During a search of the home Chief Bell said the body of the woman was found on the second floor.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Chief Bell said the fire and the death aren’t considered suspicious and no autopsy was ordered by the Muskingum County Coroner.
The name of the victim isn’t being released at this time. The fire remains under investigation. Zanesville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Zanesville Police Department, Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, Genesis Community Ambulance and South Zanesville Fire Department.
