Fatal House Fire in New Lexington

The New Lexington Police Department said Monday morning the State Fire Marshal and Perry County Coroner have been called to help investigate a fatal fire in the village that claimed the lives of two children, a 3-year-old male and a 7-year-old female.

Chief Scott Ervin said the fire took place shortly after midnight in the 300 block of North State Street.

Chief Ervin said they have confirmed fatalities in the fire and multiple other victims were transported from the scene to various hospitals in the area.

The chief said this is an active investigation and their thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and the first responders at the scene.
