American Pride Power Equipment contest winners

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local business held a contest for young entrepreneurs who wanted to start their own lawn care business. Wednesday the winners were awarded the equipment to start their careers.

Earlier in March, American Pride Power Equipment owner Ryan Dodson, announced the Start Mowing contest. The three contest winners arrived to pick up their packages which included a push mower, trimmer, and blower.

“It was a great competition and we had over 100 entries overall,” said Dodson. “And there were several excellent entries that unfortunately we had to pass up but we were able to award some runners up and get more people than we anticipated involved.”

Dodson hopes the prizes awarded will allow the winners to build their own businesses or at least be a way to make extra money on the side. The students agreed with Dodson that this is a good way to further their businesses and are thankful for the help.

“I mowed grass last summer and I really liked doing it. So I’d seen it and took the opportunity,” said runners-up Logan and Lane Untied

“What made me interested in it because I was like doing work around the house and I was getting money for it and I was going to buy all my lawn equipment for it,” said winner Owen White.

“It feels good. I’m glad they put an event like this on for people,” said runner-up Ashlin Bailey.

American Pride will have another opportunity for people to win a zero-turn riding mower in a raffle with Homeless Hands of Zanesville. The raffle will be held May 1st, tickets are $20.
