Feeling Like Early Spring

With a high temperature of 65 degrees, people were out and about today enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.

We went around Zanesville talking to some of the locals who were out taking advantage of the warm conditions.

We ran into a local resident, Christy Hanifan, who was out enjoying the nice weather outside of Zane State College.

“Today I have been really enjoying the weather, I was so surprised that it was going to be this nice in the beginning of February. I was able to have a picnic today and I’m about to go Geo-Cashing with some of my friends,” said Hanifan.

We are at the halfway mark of winter and Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring, but many people think that the worst part of winter is yet to come.

Marianne Huey was walking on the trails behind Zane State and said that she’s taking advantage of this nice weather, because you never know how long its going to last.

“We still might have something you never know, we had that blizzard of 78 and it started out like this where we had nothing until later on in the winter season,” said Huey.

The super El Niño has been partially blamed for the warmer than normal weather, but considering how it’s only the first week of February, there will be more chances for winter storms to come before the seasons over.
