‘Fire Prevention Day’ With Duncan Falls Philo Business Association

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Duncan Falls Philo Business Association held a fire prevention day along with Harrison and Wayne Township fire departments.
The event educated young kids and families about fire safety and fire prevention.
Ryan Braglin, a member of Philo Business Association, talked about the importance of fire prevention and what made them want to host an event like this for the community.
“We have two awesome fire departments and given the tragedies that have happened to bring some people together to focus on safety,” Braglin said.
The Duncan Falls Philo Business Association also gave away smoke detectors and fire extinguishers during the event.
The fire station had a smokehouse that had demonstrations and plans for families to create exit plans if they ever came in contact with a fire.
“Our county recently has had a couple of very severe fires and we want to take time out to teach these kids ways of keeping safe, not playing with matches, things like that,” Harrison Township Fire Department, Captain Chase Temple stated. “And also safety precautions to have in their own homes as far as how to get out of the bedrooms, safety plans, exit plans and things like that.”
Temple said to make sure to always blow out your candles before leaving home and keep curtains or drapes away from open flames.
Residents can support both fire departments by making a donation at dfpba.org, which all proceeds will go towards fire equipment.
