FirePit Charity Club has a bike ride and pig roast for veterans

The bike ride, called a poker run, was $10 per person. The bike ride started at 11 a.m. and went until 5 p.m. Charity member Nova Johnson said they’ve always wanted to do something for the veterans and other organizations in the area.
“When we started the charity club, we decided that’s what we wanted to do was help out certain things in the community,” said Johnson. “We donated to the animal shelter, we’ve donated to transitions, to the angel tree, the veterans are in there, and we’ve also got a check ready to send to the children’s hospital.”
After the poker run, the hog roast was $10 a plate. There was also a 50-50 raffle. Johnson said all of the proceeds will be given to veterans as a means of trying to give back for what military has done for the country. FirePit is still in the midst of counting the amount of money raised, but members said every little bit counts.
