“In the state of Ohio just because you can buy the fireworks here doesn’t mean you’re allowed to set them off here,” said Waltemire. “Anything that comes out of a mortar tube, is illegal to set off in the state of Ohio.”

Waltemire said that personal fireworks are illegal for everyone’s safety. As well as the need to have a permit, where people are trained on how to safely use fireworks.

“When you buy that class of firework, you have to have a license in the state of Ohio to set those off,” said Waltemire. “There’s a lot of parameters that have to be and rules that you fall under to set those off.”

Waltemire also said make sure to take special care when using legal fireworks such as a sparklers, because it burns around two thousand degrees.
