Firework Sales

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Fourth of July is this coming week and people are preparing to have a blast.
Prism Fireworks located off of State Route 209 in Cambridge has seen an increase in sales for the Fourth of July. Manager Charles Justice is expecting the store to be even busier this weekend with their hot items on sale.
“The hot item, the Sabre Sword mortar, it’s 24 shells, and two tubes,” Justice said. “Puts on a heck of a show. My personal preferences are the finale cakes. I mean 16 shots, 9 shots, and multiple shots. You just set it on the ground, light it, stand back, and watch the show.”
The Fourth of July brings friends and families together for reunions.
“It’s patriotic, it’s American, people like to get in their back yards and barbecue, and let off some fireworks,” said Justice.
According to Justice, families are wanting the larger scale items verses the smaller.
“They’re always looking for the big mortars and the big finale cakes,” Justice said. “The bigger, the better, the brighter colors, and we use 500 grams of powder. Which is the brightest that you can sell legally, class C fireworks.”
According to Ohio’s Department of Commerce it’s legal to purchase fireworks in the state of Ohio. However, it’s illegal to discharge consumer fireworks in the state. Fireworks bought from consumers in Ohio must be transported out-of-state within 48 hours.
